BRASS DIES:
- Brass Stamping Dies are created by tracing an
enlarged template on a machine called a pantograph, they are not etched like copper
and magnesium dies.
- Brass Blind Embossing Dies are made to emboss a
design only, the embossing carries the design alone by casting shadows that
give an illusion of exaggerated depth.*
- Brass Emboss to Register Embossing Dies fit tightly
to printing or foil, a printed sheet or color proof is needed to assure
perfect registration.*
- Brass Combination Foil/Embossing Dies transfer foil
while embossing, this process makes registration perfect every time with one
press run, what a time saver. Flat stamping can be incorporated into the same
die, therefore reducing the number of dies.*
- *Sculpturing can be added to any of the Brass Embossing Dies.
COPPER DIES:
- Copper Embossing Dies are etched by a machine
containing corrosive acid that actually washes away the metal that is not
protected by the impervious photo emulsion that is first photographed onto the
copper plate.
- Copper Flat Stamping Dies are also etched and then
the excess metal around the design area is milled .100" to give more relief and make foiling jobs easier.
MAGNESIUM DIES:
- Magnesium Embossing Dies are created with a
similar process to the copper dies, but using different chemistry.
- These dies are great for short press runs and are more affordable
than copper or brass.
- Magnesium Stamping Dies are etched deeper than the
copper dies, therefore, they do not require additional milling.
STEEL DIES:
- Steel Cutting Dies are made from a solid piece of ¼"
steel and are used for kiss cutting labels on lengthy press runs.
- Steel Rule Cutting Dies are made by fitting steel
cutting rule or perforation rule into a block of wood. These dies have rubber
on both sides of the exposed rule to eject the pieces cut out by the sharp
rule. These dies are made with many sizes of perf and rule, so please let the
diemaker know your application ahead of time.
PRECAST COUNTER DIES:
- Counter Dies are the fiberglass male dies that are
molded from the embossing die which is considered the female. These high
density plastic dies are positioned on the press and are pushed into the
embossing die creating an embossed piece between the two dies.
- There are four thickness available: .015" .030" .060" .120"
- .015" Counters are very flexible and are mostly used
with the cylinder type presses.
- .030" Counters are our most popular counters and are
compatible with all other types of presses.
- .060" Counters are used with larger designs to be
embossed into thick papers. The thicker backing on these dies reduce warping
of the deeper embossing dies.
- .120" Counters are referred to as the Yearbook
Counter Underlay. These dies rarely warp and are excellent for embossing thick
book covers.
